‘Skipped UN Court listening to due to the absurdity of lawsuit’: Russia on Ukraine matter | World News

New Delhi: Russia on Wednesday (March 9) mentioned that it skipped the listening to on the International Court of Justice on the Ukraine matter because the lawsuit was absurd, Russia`s overseas ministry mentioned on Twitter, in its first public assertion.

“On March 7-8, the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague held a hearing on the request for provisional measures presented by Ukraine in an unsubstantiated lawsuit against Russia. In light of the apparent absurdity of the lawsuit, we decided not to attend it,” learn the assertion.

Ukraine filed a lawsuit within the World Court towards Russia demanding the courtroom to order Russia to instantly droop the unprovoked navy operations launched on February 24 which have as their said function and goal the prevention and punishment of a claimed genocide” within the separatist japanese areas of Luhansk and Donetsk.

The listening to on the case started on Monday and went on for 2 days.

Russia didn’t attend hearings on Monday on the International Court of Justice in The Hague, which is the UN courtroom for resolving disputes between nations.

Ukraine argued that Russia had wrongly tried to justify its invasion on false assertions that it was attacking in self-defence to forestall genocide.

Russia`s tweet mentioned it had not attended “in light of the apparent absurdity of the lawsuit”.
