The Indian Army’s Madras Engineering Group (MEG) has made the nation proud on the Asian Sailing Championships 2022, which concluded in Abu Dhabi not too long ago.
Sailors of the MEG Boys Sports Club gained three medals — one gold, one silver and one bronze — within the senior and youth classes on the championships held between February 26 and March 6.
Of the eight sailors who participated in senior and youth classes, Tokyo Olympian Subedar Vishnu Saravanan bagged gold within the laser commonplace class. Havildar Prince Noble and Sapper Manu Francis gained bronze within the 49er class, whereas Boys Sports Company (BSC) Cadet Sabavath Vijay Kumar gained silver in laser 4.7 class.
MEG has been engaged on sporting excellence, particularly in water sports activities of rowing and crusing. In 2015, crusing self-discipline was launched in BSC MEG.
In line with the nationwide aim of nurturing Olympians, MEG is at the moment grooming 22 crusing cadets to grow to be future Olympic medalists.
