More than 15.70 crore stability and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are nonetheless out there with the states and Union Territories (UTs), stated the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday.
According to the ministry, greater than 185.53 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses had been offered to States/UTs below the nationwide vaccination drive of the Government of India,
“More than 185.53 Crore (1,85,53,44,495) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through the direct state procurement category, of which more than 15.70 Crore (15,70,79,006) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” stated an official assertion.
The nationwide COVID-19 vaccination began on 16 January 2021. The new part of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on 21 June 2021.
The vaccination drive has been ramped up by way of the supply of extra vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling higher planning by them and streamlining the vaccine provide chain.
As a part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by offering them with COVID Vaccines freed from value.
